Day 21

South Dakota is an odd place.  It's home to the Black Hills and the Badlands--total opposite ends of the spectrum--except that they are both beautiful in their own way.

People put dinosaurs, bright green dinosaurs,  in the middle of nowhere and for no apparent reason.
They have funny rules that must be obeyed (sorry Herr Larry--I don't want to upset the locals).
But all in all, it's been a really cool place to visit so far.  All we've seen is in western South Dakota.  I doubt that the eastern part of the state will be so attractive.
We had a pretty good day today.  I completed my 5th century of the ride so far.  Until we hit the Badlands we were averaging over 18 mph.  We continue to be blessed with good weather and had tail winds this morning.  During the last 15 miles of the ride today the wind turned into our face.  Those miles were pretty grueling.
We're sleeping in a park in Kadoka, SD, a place no one had, or will ever, hear of again.  Tomorrow is another big day.  We ride 95 miles to South Dakota's capital, Pierre.  We also cross the 1500 mile mark.
